Shawano County Traffic Court Records
Four courts can hold a Shawano County traffic ticket. Wisconsin Circuit Court labels ordinary traffic and ordinance citation matters TR and criminal traffic CT. A forfeiture may show up as FO. Noncriminal traffic citations, parking tickets, and city or village ordinance violations go to Shawano-Bonduel Municipal Court. Marion's civil traffic forfeitures and local ordinance cases land instead in Northern Waupaca County Joint Municipal Court. What matters is the court named on the ticket, not the closest building. A criminal citation from Marion's Shawano County side routes to Shawano County Circuit Court. A civil municipal citation stays with the joint court. So read the ticket. Note the issuing agency, the violation type, the court, and the appearance details. Do that before any docket search or phone call.
Route Shawano Traffic Tickets First
Wisconsin has no county justice-of-the-peace layer here. Municipal court is the lower court, and it feeds no single public statewide docket search. Route the ticket by the citation and the court it names.
| TR, CT, or FO circuit case | Shawano County Clerk of Circuit Court; WCCA, then clerk confirmation. |
|---|---|
| Shawano or Bonduel citation | Shawano-Bonduel clerk; call 715-524-6173 or use the counter. |
| Marion civil traffic | Northern Waupaca Joint clerk; call 715-823-7609 or contact its office. |
| Marion criminal traffic | Circuit clerk for the county side involved; confirm county before searching. |
That split explains a common puzzle. A valid Shawano County traffic ticket can go missing from a WCCA search because it sits in a municipal file, has not posted yet, or needs a clerk lookup. None of that makes the citation void.
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
Start with circuit traffic and criminal-traffic matters. Begin at Wisconsin Court System Case Search and pick Circuit Court. WCCA searches public case information by name. Choose Shawano as the county. Then open Court Activities for hearing dates and recorded events. WCCA posts no separate statewide public citation-number lookup. So do not push a citation number through an unofficial search service.
- Read the citation and identify the named court, issuing municipality, and whether appearance is mandatory.
- For a circuit case, use WCCA, search the name, filter County to Shawano, and compare the case type.
- Open Court Activities and compare the violation date, status, and next listed setting with the notice.
- For Shawano-Bonduel municipal court, call 715-524-6173 or visit its counter because no public docket form was located.
- For a Marion municipal matter, call 715-823-7609 and confirm the current Northern Waupaca Joint court contact.
- If a new citation is absent, ask the issuing court whether it has posted and rely on the citation's response deadline.
Gather the citation number, the name exactly as printed, the municipality, the violation date, and the requested setting before calling. Keep full driver-license numbers and other protected data to yourself unless the court's official procedure demands them.
Shawano-Bonduel Ticket Records
The Shawano-Bonduel Municipal Court handles noncriminal ordinance, traffic, municipal-code, and parking matters for the City of Shawano and the Village of Bonduel. Its courtroom sits at 127 S Sawyer Street in Shawano. That address is not the county courthouse. The circuit clerk of Shawano County sits at the courthouse and is a separate office. The court posts no anonymous municipal docket search form. Its official page sets out the local jurisdiction for a Shawano County traffic ticket:
The distinction is simple. A municipal citation belongs at Sawyer Street, while a TR, CT, or FO circuit record belongs with the Shawano County Clerk of Circuit Court.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
A printed date may be only an initial appearance. It is not automatically a trial. For a recorded setting on the circuit side, use WCCA Court Activities. The official court calendar can also be narrowed by county, court official, a date range of no more than seven days, and a traffic-only control. Confirm any municipal date with that municipal clerk.
| Citation or case number | Use the exact identifier on the ticket or in WCCA, such as a court-assigned TR or CT case. |
|---|---|
| Issuing court | Distinguishes Shawano circuit, Shawano-Bonduel municipal, and Northern Waupaca Joint municipal records. |
| Date and time | May be an initial appearance, pretrial, hearing, or trial; read the event text. |
| Court official or place | Use the current notice or calendar result rather than assuming a branch. |
| Status | Shows recorded plea, hearing, judgment, payment, default, or later activity when public. |
Calendar entries shift. Check the entry against the newest court notice, and call the clerk when a setting is time-sensitive. Shawano County also notes that text reminders may be requested through the circuit clerk at 715-526-9347. No universal online opt-in link is published.
Marion Traffic Dates Differ
Marion's own instructions treat the citation date and time as the initial appearance in most cases. A mandatory appearance means you must attend. When appearance is optional, the posted instructions allow a no-contest path through payment before that date. A mailed not-guilty plea has its own rules. It must arrive at least two weeks before the court date. The plea letter needs specifics. Include the name, date of birth, citation number, violation, and court date. These steps belong to Northern Waupaca County Joint Municipal Court. They do not fit every Shawano County traffic ticket. Read Marion's current appearance and trial instructions. Match them against the actual citation; after a valid not-guilty plea, the court sends a later date, and its office sits at 50 10th Street, Clintonville, Wisconsin 54929.
Marion routing check: identify civil versus criminal citation and the county side before choosing a municipal or circuit clerk.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
Payment and a not-guilty plea are different things. Shawano County's circuit instructions say a not-guilty plea filed before the citation date can lift the need to appear on that date. The court then sends notice of a court or jury trial. Plans change, though. Anyone who switches an offer or no-trial path to no contest or guilty, and then wants to cancel the trial, must do so at least two days before it. Mark that deadline.
| Choice | Court Record Effect | Next Step |
|---|---|---|
| Pay as allowed | The court records the payment and related plea or disposition under its procedure | Verify amount, case, deadline, and accepted method with the issuing court |
| Contest | A not-guilty plea leads to later hearing, pretrial, or trial activity | Follow the exact written or in-person plea rule on the citation |
| Seek another court remedy | A petition or motion may create added docket activity | Use current official forms and filing rules; clerk staff cannot give legal advice |
The county traffic page lists a $40 occupational-license petition fee. It also describes an IID-exemption petition process that requires a DOT title printout. Both are petition procedures, not citation copy fees. Confirm the current form and requirement before filing.
Do not miss the response date: a failure to appear or pay can lead to default or suspension-related consequences, depending on the court and case. Contact the issuing clerk at once.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
Shawano County keeps two files you should not confuse. The traffic court docket covers the citation itself. That record shows case type, plea, hearings, judgment, and payment activity. The state keeps the other one. WisDOT maintains the driver record and applies its own rules once courts report a conviction. A case lookup on the court side will never stand in for a WisDOT record.
| Court Traffic Record | Driver Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Issuing municipal clerk or Shawano County Clerk of Circuit Court | Wisconsin Department of Transportation |
| Core content | Citation, plea, court date, disposition, judgment, and payment activity | Reported convictions, demerit points, and driving-privilege status |
| Access route | WCCA for circuit information or direct municipal contact | WisDOT's official driver-record process |
Your driving record and your Shawano County traffic court docket answer different questions. The docket at the courthouse shows the status of the citation itself. The driving record is a state matter. The WisDOT point-system page spells out its rules. Points pile up from the date of each violation. 12 or more points within a 12-month period can suspend driving privileges. For anything about the citation, stay with the court. For driver-record rules, trust that state source.
Count on the court for the citation case. Count on WisDOT for the driving record.
Read Shawano Traffic Record Fields
A public Shawano County traffic docket entry can carry a citation or case number. It may also list the issuing court, the case type, an offense date, and a court date. Other entries show a plea, a hearing, a trial, a disposition, a judgment, or a payment event. Occupational-license petition activity shows up when it applies. One caution applies. A missing attachment does not prove the court record lacks a filing. Nor does a restricted marker.
- TR
- Wisconsin circuit traffic or ordinance citation category.
- CT
- Criminal traffic, distinct from an ordinary civil traffic forfeiture.
- FO
- A forfeiture matter, which can include ordinance or DNR-related enforcement.
- Initial appearance
- An early setting that addresses the opening posture and later schedule, not necessarily a trial.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome or closing court action; read the exact entry for meaning.
Tie your search terms to the actual case. A municipal forfeiture is not a criminal conviction, and an absent WCCA result does not make a citation invalid.
Shawano Traffic Ticket Workload
The statewide municipal statistics report lists 1,702 matters for Shawano-Bonduel Joint Municipal Court. The year is 2024. That is up from 1,673 in 2023 and 1,340 in 2022. Read them as joint-court totals. They are not a count of Shawano city drivers or criminal cases. The state's own caveat says municipal data are self-reported. Not every entry necessarily includes all four quarters.
These figures measure court workload, nothing more. They say nothing about outcomes, ticket types, or where anyone lived. For a particular Shawano County traffic ticket, use the citation and the court record instead of a statistical total.
Copies and Fees
Want a plain or certified copy of a Shawano County traffic court record? Ask the issuing court's clerk for the current fee and your delivery options. The county pages post no complete circuit copy schedule, so call before you assume anything. The Shawano municipal FAQ says records requests go through a form. They may take up to ten days. That timing applies to Shawano only. It does not cover every circuit or Marion request.
| Item | Fee | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Plain traffic case copy | Confirm current amount | Issuing court clerk |
| Certified traffic case copy | Confirm current amount | Circuit or municipal custodian |
| Occupational-license petition | $40 on the county traffic page | Shawano County Clerk of Circuit Court |
Know the citation, the document, and the certification type before you order. Ask whether the clerk takes an in-person, mailed, or other written request, and what payment form is current.
When Shawano Ticket Search Fails
A Shawano ticket search can come up empty for several reasons. A brand-new ticket may not have posted to the docket yet. A municipal citation may never appear in WCCA at all. Sometimes the name on the filing differs from the one you searched. Marion sits on the county line, so the case may simply belong elsewhere. There is no statewide public citation-number search. There is also no county-wide photo-enforcement portal to fall back on. When the online docket fails, go back to the paper citation. Call the court it names. The Shawano County Clerk of Circuit Court handles circuit matters at 715-526-9347. For Shawano-Bonduel municipal tickets, call 715-524-6173. For Northern Waupaca Joint matters, call 715-823-7609. Is the printed court date close? Do not sit around waiting for an online hit.
